The Gosling Marching Band recently travelled to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Independence Day Parade down Constitution Ave. 121 students, 17 chaperones and 2 teachers travelled on July 1 to our Nation's Capitol for the event.
The group made the 18 hour journey with Joe Burnett and Progressive Travel from Spencer, WI on 3 european style coaches. The travellers visited monuments, mueseums, and the capitol, marched in the parade and watched the fireworks on July 4th from the Mall.
It was a spectaular trip for everyone! Surely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
On June 30th, the Watertown High School Gosling Marching Band shared the stage with the Watertown Municipal Band to unveil their new marching band uniforms to a crowd of over 500. The high school peace garden was full of family, friends, and community members, all on hand to see the band in their new uniforms for the first time.
Led by directors DeWayne Roberson and Reid LaDew, the performance officially concluded the three year, $100,000 project. All funds were raised by the directors, their students and band supporters. The uniforms, including a set of insulated raincoats, flag squad uniforms, flags, and numerous other accessories will now be used for all future formal performances.
A plaque listing all official donors was unveiled and will be hung in the high school auditorium lobby.
The 2010-2011 school year has been an exciting one! Thank you to all of our students, families, and staff for your generous support throughout the year. We move, boldly forward, into the future with new marching uniforms, new ideas, and new ensembles for 2011-2012.
