Curriculum Committee Meeting Summary for May 20
Assessment Update:

The Committee reviewed results from the November 2007 administration of the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination.  Both positive performance and areas of concern were discussed as the percentage of proficient and advanced students in each school were examined against the Annual Measurable Objectives in reading and mathematics.  The Department of Public Instruction will release test scores on May 30 at which time they can be distributed publicly.  A full report will be given to the Board of Education at its June meeting. Reality Store:

Details of a May 13 meeting involving members of the WHS Business Education Department and the Watertown Chamber of Commerce were discussed as they related to the Reality Store workshop for students.  Reality Store (and workshops of a similar kind by different names) is an interactive, hands-on financial literacy event between students and area businesses.  The Committee reviewed the potential timeframe for the event as well as the types of business that the Chamber of Commerce would solicit involvement from.  The Reality Store will most likely involve students from the WHS business ed classes in its first year with expansion due for subsequent years as the program develops.
