1.      Elementary Literacy Plan – Classroom Instruction Updates

Administration and elementary instructional coaches highlighted special programs supporting parents and new Fountas and Pinnell benchmark assessments in support of literacy instruction in the classroom both at Webster and across the District.  These efforts, among many others, coincide with the WUSD Literacy Plan currently in operation.

Educational Services Meeting Summary for May 8

Studer Group Partnership

The Committee reviewed and discussed a proposed partnership with Studer Education to facilitate the development of an organizational improvement plan through consultation services provided by Studer and funded by the Watertown Area Health Foundation over a three year period.  Consultation services would commence on July 1, 2018.  The Committee forwarded a recommendation that formal action be taken at the May 21

1.      Lincoln STEM School Evaluation Tool Preview

Jessica Wiedenfeld shared the school’s process and progress in developing a school evaluation tool that captures key elements of STEM education and learner habits of mind.  The tool is intended to be a periodic self-assessment of progress over time in the areas of Student Learning, STEM Experiences, 21st Century Skills, Social-Emotional Growth, and Leadership.   … more »

Educational Services Meeting Summary for December 12

Technology Education:  Jesse Domer shared proposals in a new manufacturing pathway consisting of Machine Tool, Welding, and Metal Fabrication as a combined pathway.  Members from the Engineering and Manufacturing Partnership team were also available to share support for the addition of these courses in support of local industry. 

Science: Medical Interventions will be listed as the third course in the Project

Educational Services Committee Meeting Summary for November 15

2017-18 High School Course Proposals

Courses in the English and mathematics departments were proposed.  English 10 - Reading, Writing, and Speaking in the Modern Voice will replace Speech and Composition.  An elective course titled Speech and Drama will be offered to the upper grades. The rationale for the change is to ensure more writing in a year-long course.  Function, Statistics, and Trigonometry will be offered in
