2006-07 WKCE - CRT Results
WUSD recently received test results from the
Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination - Criterion Referenced Test. When the public thinks of tests, it usually equates the results with pass rates or some judgment of accountability. Some tests are diagnostic, meaning that they are used to determine what portion of the currriculum a student or class is or is not learning. In other cases, tests are used to help determine placement of students in special classes. At other times, tests are used for accountability purposes, meaning that they help determine whether rewards or penalties for schools or individuals is necessary. The WKCE-CRT falls into the accountability category.
Most educators use tests for diagnostic purposes and believe such tests to be the most instructionally useful. Nevertheless, the WKCE is used to help inform teachers and administrators about possible trends in student performance or gaps in the curriculum. This year's results compare favorably to statewide results in the core academic areas. The linked file in the blue box above highlights Watertown's performance in 2006-07.
