Guidelines for Updating Curriculum and Courses
Curriculum Specialists and teacher leaders can use this guide to plan sequential revisions within a department, grade level or content area
The guidelines linked in the blue box should be used to organize the process of writing and revising curriculum in your content area or department. Think of them as a tool for considering the necessary steps to successfully updating the instructional goals and outcomes, assessments, and methods established in our classrooms. The guidelines are set-up in stages that take place over the course of a maximum of 3 years, but may be altered as appropriate. Begin by reviewing the Curriculum Writing and Revision Template followed by the Procedural Guide to step 1. The framework for revisions is based on
Understanding By Design (Wiggins and McTighe).
Contact Dave or Lynn for design templates or workbooks if needed. Also included is a district form for proposing new courses in your program of studies. This is designed for middle school and high school teachers and can be printed and completed by hand or by clicking in the boxes. Send completed proposals to
Lynn Linskens. Completed proposals will be presented to the curriculum committee for further discussion.
