WHS students are once again participating in the Academic Decathlon's local competition at CESA 2 in hopes of advancing to the regional round in January and an eventual trip to state and nationals next spring.
Wisconsin Academic Decathlon is a statewide competition that promotes academic excellence among students, schools, and communitiies. High students in public and private schools compete as individuals and teams in a series of ten academic tests and demonstrations that include Art, Economics, Music, Math, Language Arts, and Science. The overarching theme for 2011-12 that ties each of these areas together is "The Age of Empire".
Students earning As, Bs, or Cs are encouraged to participate in Academic Decathlon. Watertown is in its second year of competition and will be sending two teams to Whitewater this fall under the continued direction of coach Chris Kemp. Last year, Watertown advanced to regionals in its first year with over 125 teams competing. Way to go, students!
