Financial Literacy:
The committee reviewed proposed units to be covered in the high school curriculum as part of an effort to improve students’ financial literacy. Courses and departments that will host the curriculum are Money 101 in Business Education, Economics in Social Studies, and Business Math in Mathematics.
The committee will eventually discuss related changes to the graduation policy to an increase in the number of required credits for graduation, if one of these coursed becomes mandatory for graduation starting with, no earlier than, the class of 2015.
Data Warehousing:
The group discussed sources of data currently or soon to be available in the district of both a curricular and non-curricular nature and the potential for Skyward’s Data Warehousing module to generate useful and timely student performance information for teacher and staff use.
A district data team consisting of administrators and other invitees will meet throughout the year to plan for the effective use of this new resource.
