RMS Schedule Implementation Update

Several math teachers presented information to the Committee on several developments related to the new block schedule at Riverside Middle School.  Among the areas/questions covered were:

How class time is organized and structured
Common planning time for staff
Instructional materials
Student discipline
Flexible Instructional Time (FIT)

Most of the areas above represented core reasons for pursuing a scheduling change. Music teachers joined the meeting to share insights into the challenges of intermittent class time with students. Additional site visits and professional development are planned for the year to continue with the adjustment.  Teachers generally reported positive feedback, both formal and informal, from students.  

Schurz School SLO

Principal Andy Bare shared Schurz School's demographics, data, and goals related to his 2014-15 School Learning Objective. Mr. Bare will share his plan with the full Board of Education at the October meeting of the whole Board.
