Curriculum Committee Meeting Summary for April 15
Workshop preview: Understanding Poverty in an Educational Setting:

Ann Rumpf, school psychologist and Tammy Foerster, school social worker at WHS, discussed the workshop they've facilitated for the past 3 years for Watertown teachers and staff.  Based on the research of Ruby Payne, the 2 day workshop scheduled for June 18 and 19 will once again focus on key points related to understanding the culture of generational poverty.  Participants will learn creative strategies to address specific learning and behavioral issues in the classroom.  Topics include family structures, discipline interventions, building relationships, learning structures, and using mental models to teach complex ideas to students.

Contact Ann or Tammy for more information.

Algebra I textbook:

The committee was presented with the proposed Algebra I textbook forwarded by the high school math department.  A copy is available for review in the C&I office.
