Curriculum Committee Meeting Summary for November 12

CAPP Course Proposals:

Bruce Foley, Business Education teacher, presented a proposal to offer CAPP Personal Finance and CAPP Business Economics to the 2014-15 program of studies at WHS.  CAPP courses offer concurrent high school and college credit through UW-Oshkosh. Subsequent discussion will take place regarding the balance between Advanced Placement and the CAPP courses in Business Education.  The Committee endorsed the inclusion of these courses in the 2014-15 course book that will be appear in a resolution at the full meeting of the Board in January.

November 15 Staff Development:

Members of the Committee review the schedule of events for the November 15 staff development day.  Topics include Everyday Math, Build Your Own Curriculum, Lesson Design and Engagement Strategies, and the new professional evaluation system.  

Charter School Planning:

The Committee was apprised of developments regarding the charter school bylaws and contract, which is anticipated to be voted on by the full Board at its December meeting.
